The following rules apply to ALL entrants regardless of being individual competitors or part of a group entry.
Entry into the event is at the discretion of the event staff, and we reserve the right to reject ANY entrant who does not adhere to these rules or whose costume is in violation of them. Please see the convention harassment policy HERE.
Kid-Friendly Show Reminder:
There will be children present and your costumes and presentation should be suitable for ALL ages. During pre-judging for 1-2 people: anticipate a 2-3 minute presentation. For 3-6 people: anticipate a 3-5 presentation.
Depending on the complexity and detail, the judges may request additional time to observe and properly judge your costume during the actual show.
During the main stage portion of the competition, there will be time for a small one-minute presentation. During this time there will be 3 points of posing on the stage,

This is simply for photos and one last look from the judges, no music or performances please.
Weapons & Props:
Lightsabers, wands, and sonic screwdrivers
Arrows if they are non-removable from their quiver or have a foam or no tip
Shields of all materials with no sharp edges (metal shields are allowed but may take longer to screen)
Lightweight plastic bats
Staffs and brooms
Whips (must be zip tied or otherwise attached to your person)
Swords constructed of light foam, plastic, or cardboard
Other items made from cardboard, foam, rubber, Worbla and likewise lightweight materials
Obviously sci-fi or fantasy guns are allowed (e.g. Portal Guns, Han Solo blaster, phasers)
These MUST NOT resemble real world guns
They MUST be inoperable and cannot launch projectiles
Realistic and replica firearms of any kind
Glass or stone props
Projectile weapons or ones that can launch anything (e.g. slingshots)
Real, replica, or simulated explosives, ammunition, chemical weapons of any kind, including but not limited to: Simulated bomb vests, cartoon bombs, bullets, hand grenades, claymore mines, firecrackers, pepper spray, mace, powder caps
Metal or wood swords and other sharp-edged weapons
Excessively noisy props including but not limited to: airhorns, bullhorns, whistles
If you are not willing to comply with these policies, please do not bring your costume weapons.
Live animals are not allowed during the show or pre-judging unless they are a service animal. No animal is allowed on the stage at any time. Our staff is on hand to assist you during the main stage event.
